Hi all. First time uni mum. When i was at uni i didnt have this problem so im a bit unsure.

My som enrolled for his course at the end of August. SFE was due to be paid on 22nd September. The uni still hasnt confirmed enrollment though and are saying that may not happen till next week which would mean SFE wont get paid till the week after?! Is this normal?

when i went my attendance was confirmed before i even attended and i received my student loan the first day i started as planned. Im unsure if this is now how it is. If not, is there anything we can do to try and hurry it along? Student services just said we know we havent enrolled you yet and couldn’t give him a date.

Usually student finance is paid 3-5 days after enrollment at uni. The date of 22nd in the system is an indicator rather than being the bang on date. It's a case of the return to prove registration going back to student finance.

In your case I'd give SFE a ring (or ask your YP to) and ask what the delay is. It could be that there's something additional that the uni need to see for your YP to fully enrol. It could be that the bank account number given to SFE has been put in incorrectly. But they'll be able to tell you this.

It's unusual for a uni not to send their registration returns in immediately as they know students are waiting on the money - and that they won't get their accommodation fees paid until students have their finance in many cases.

I'd also be giving uni student services a bit of a push as 'we know we haven't enrolled you yet' is not that helpful. It would be useful to know why that actually is.

This is the issues, we need the money to come in and waiting till potentially the week after next without an actual guarantee of it even being then so we can plan accordingly is just not helpful. When i went which was only 2020 they confirmed us before the start date and we got the finance when they said.

Ill try and speak to them myself. Thanks

Also it is the entire uni, all years, no one has been confirmed and no one has their payment. Its not unique to my son
