A level resits - has anyone done them?

DD was disappointed with her A level grades - missed her firm and insurance uni offers - and decided she wants to retake. She’s currently deciding if she wants to do one or two A levels.

I know lots of people have been in the same boat and taken a place in clearing. But that’s not the choice she’s made, despite us encouraging it, so now need to make the best of the situation.

So I’d really like to hear any experiences of resits - especially using private tutors - and how to apply for unis when you’re not in a college “bubble”. (Eg how do you get predicted grades?)

Can she not resit Y13 at her current school? That would be the simplest way.

She doesn’t want to be with the kids from the year below. She can do the exams there but study independently.

It’s really difficult if you’re not in the learning environment. Will they let her enter without being on the roll?

I resat one 20 odd years ago if that helps?! I took a gap year, made some plans for a volunteer placement and resat a couple of modules round that. It was fine and actually some nice breathing space.
