Some part A level Biology paper not marked as it was missing. What do we do?

Please has anyone experienced this. My dd on A level result day missed B in biology by one mark and therefore missed her uni offer. She got a C. When we asked for paper review we were told part of her paper 1 was missing hence they estimated her score for that paper. The teacher advised to review paper 2 instead. We requested to review paper 2 and 3. She now lost 2 marks in both paper which means she's now 3 marks away from B.
We want to ask for the paper 1. But we can't as some part of it is missing. Not sure what to do or even if someone has experienced this or any A level exam marker can advise. She is so devastated. Thank you.

Has someone looked at it to see if there are any obviously missed marks, apart from in the missing section?

No. To be honest school isn't being to helpful. However I've emailed following advise off this thread. They made it sound like it happens often and advised not to look into it and rather review the other papers.

The candidate is certainly entitled to have access to their scripts so that shouldn't be an issue. But it sounds like the school sent the other papers for review without checking them first - which in my view is never a good idea.

Is the course she wants to do in Clearing? How does she feel about other choices? This could be other universities or other courses like joint honours biology with something else - that might also give her the possibility of switching into straight biology after the first year. I would look at all those options as the missing paper issue may not get you anywhere.

It doesn’t happen often and as an examiner, we raise queries when the pages aren’t all there (or scanned incorrectly in some way). Your exams or head of sixth form need to get themselves moving.

Have you got any further?

Takingaleap · 21/08/2025 05:49

We called her 6th form but couldn't speak to anyone and we've emailed too but no reply yet. My dd have decided to retake Biology and take a gap year.
I've still asked for the paper and complaint procedure as I will take that further.
Thank you all for the advice.

No but we've asked for that but but not heard from school.

My dd is getting a remark and her teacher has definitely got and seen the paper because she talked about it when she emailed dd. I know some of yours is lost but where is the rest of it I wonder.

Just be careful re: resits
My DD did resits because I was on cancer pathway throughout her second year (including major operations), and she was caring for me.

She had offer the following Feb, but was only told in April/ may that offer was Astar A A rather than the usual AAB because it was resits.
