English, History and PE A levels, potentially for Oxbridge?

DS is considering the above combination. Aiming to read English or History. Teachers are recommending he applies to Oxbridge. High achieving kid at a super selective boys grammar that send lots to Oxbridge to give context.
We have not discussed with teachers yet, wanted to get a feel first.
Thanks in advance

PE isn’t mentioned here in the list of the best A level subjects for Arts and Humanities at Cambridge. However, it’s not in the list of “less helpful” subjects, either.

See what school says.

@Drangea - You might want to get this moved to Higher Education rather than Further Eduction - it's where most University discussions happen. DS did History at Oxford and did English History & Theology and Philosophy . Genuinely not sure how PE is viewed - but good luck 😊

I would suggest he replace PE with something else, OP. PE is not really considered an academic A-level for Oxbridge and it genuinely will make admissions tutors hesitate. Applicants need to make the university’s “standard offer” and that will be for three A-levels — he will be getting judged in the context of pretty much all other applicants having three academic subjects, and that will put him at a big disadvantage.

Agree with the above, I'd swap the PE (unfortunately).
