Struggling at college- might be kicked out- other options?

Ds is not enjoying his vocational course and has skipped a lot of lessons that I’ve only just found out about. His tutor has said that if he doesn’t drastically improve he’ll be asked to leave the course .when I asked what he could do if that happened the tutor said there were ‘options’ but wouldn’t be drawn further.
can he apply for a new course or is that it for him? No jobs or apprenticeships round here so worried for him. I’m worrying about this far more than he is but I don’t know where to look really. College will call me back but not til next week so seeking advice on here if anyone has been through similar.

There will be a minimum attendance to qualify.if he is y12 he could be funded for two more years and restart in September

I think it will be dependent on the college as to whether they allow him to apply for a new course or whether they'll ask him to look elsewhere- but it'll depend on whether he's in year 12 or 13 and how old he is.

My nephew was in the same position and left college to do an apprenticeship in construction with the army (they've got loads of different types of apprenticeship which surprised me!)

Sometimes they will take him on a difference course in September.

Sometimes they won't.

Usually they will give another chance unless he really has pissed them off, in which case he'll need to go elsewhere.

Yes it will depend on his behaviour And attitude. We will say if they can apply for something else or not.

Usually there will be other organisations that that can offer ire targeted support. Your local careers service can help explore these. Child benefit will continue to be paid for 20 weeks if register with them.

if it’s just a wrong choice then college should be amenable to restarting in September. Ask if he can do a taster/ sit in on other classes he maybe interested in.
