You'll find discussions about A Levels and universities on our Further Education forum.

I've noticed a few threads about university in this forum."Further" education includes any study after secondary education that’s not part of higher education (i.e., not taken as part of an undergraduate or graduate degree), so A Levels or vocational qualifications are included. However, university is "Higher" Education and has its own forum here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/highereducation

The header on the board is somewhat misleading isn't it?

Yes, the heading says this FE forum is for "discussions about A Levels and Universities" but it should say its for A levels, BTecs, T-levels, and adult education.

Or even better ... "T-levels, apprenticeships, vocational qualifications and other forms of adult education"

Good luck in trying to police that.

Witheredspoon · 27/12/2024 09:47

It doesn't need policing, just sign-posting. OP's can choose to post where they like, but they'll probably get better answers to uni questions in the HE forum. I've posted something in the Site Stuff forum to hopefully catch MNHQ's attention.

I also see posts in Academics Corner about schooling and colleges. I guess people don't always know when posting somewhere they don't usually frequent.

Yes, that's why accurate headings and sometimes links to related boards can be helpful.
It's not about policing, it's about signposting so people are more likely to get useful responses.Smile

Isn’t because lots of the questions are regarding applying to university which is done whilst in year 12 or 13 and so people are likely to find people at the same stage here?

Then issues regarding stating university, how it works, issues whilst there should be in the higher education forum.

The HE forum has quite a few admissions tutors and former admissions tutors on it, so is useful for people applying.
