Btecs Nationals in 2025

Can anybody tell me what is happening to Level 3 BTECs in Sept 2025 please? My DD has been looking at sixth forms for 2025 entry and she’s keen on a double/triple BTEC in health and social care, with maybe 1 A level. This has been offered to DD in several sixth forms. I’ve since read online that these won’t be running in 2025 and they are being replaced with BTEC Alternative Academic Qualifications, which only run as single options alongside A levels. I also read that only one BTEC AAQ can be taken? Does anybody know what is true?

I thought the Gov had paused the defunding of those expected to be withdrawn from next September, which includes the one your dd is interested in?

I’m really not sure. It’s very confusing. 🫤

I’m pretty sure the pause was for Sept 2024 only. It looks like the double BTEC is being replaced with a single BTEC AAQ. qualifications.pearson.com/en/qualifications/btec-nationals/health-and-social-care-aaq.html

It's disgraceful what has happened to BTECs. They weren't perfect but they could have been tweaked rather than decimated.
