University shopping, help me make a list

After a gap year DS is off to university. I've been buying bits and bobs throughout the year and do has he but want to make the transition as easy as possible for him.
He's going into halls, self-catering with a shared kitchen, bathroom and laundry. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's doing the university shop so what have you bought?

So far I have:
pans, baking trays, crockery and cutlery, cheese grater, pizza cutter, chopping board.

Bedding, laundry soap, tea-towels, washing-up liquid, surface wipes and dish sponges.

Toiletries, towels and flannels.

Medicines and first aid.

He's sorting stationary and has a laptop.

We'll also do a food shop on the moving in day.

Tell me what essentials or home comforts I've missed. TIA

Tape measure, razor/shaving stuff, tweezers, nail clippers, over the door hooks. The advice I always give is walk into each room of the house now and work out what he uses. Ds did not take a cheese grater but bought grated cheese, same with a garlic press, bought those tubes of garlic instead. Scrub Daddy washing up brush thing that decants, Scrub Daddy doesn't stain and seems to last a lot longer than a normal sponge like a Dishmatic.

Waterproof coat and shoes/boots too, maybe an umbrella, Ds also had a ruck sack cover as his laptop was in it. Bags to be able to shop with.

We did it together with Ds as he enjoyed us being involved. As both Dh and I went to uni in the dark ages it was also nice for us to relive our own memories and we are doing the same with Ds2 who moves to uni in 3 weeks.

Reed diffuser to make his room smell fresh. Ds had the same one he had from home so his room smelled like something he recognised, he said this helped him. If you know what halls he will be in have a look on youtube for some room tours to see how other students have set their rooms up, sometimes it sparks something to add to their list.

I gave mine my old kitchen stuff and bedding and bought myself new stuff.
