Retaking A levels - Will unis still accept this?

My friends daughter didn't get good grades and wants to retake two A levels (private tuition and then sitting the exams in a college)

She was 3 marks off her predicted grade in both subjects.

If she does this as a gap year, then applies to uni for 2025 admission, will unis accept her current grade or the new, improved retake grade?

Thank you in advance x

She’s better trying fit a remark first.
yes, unis accept resits, but she’ll have to reapply

Yes, I thought about a remark - but surely the grade can also go down, so this is another concern. Thank you : )

It depends on the uni and the course

If she's three marks off she should check the grade boundaries. If they're wide, there's very little chance she'll go down so a remark is a good option.

I don’t know if this has changed recently but I thought you needed to
take the 3 subjects that form your offer in the same sitting so only resitting two might not be ok.

Thank you for mentioning this - I will have to check x
