Did A level grades dip in 2023 across the board?

A few of the schools ds is looking at either haven’t posted their A level results or have pasted a kind of making excuses kind of description and I vaguely remember at an open day a teacher referring to grades going down. Was it a post pandemic revising down of grades?

Both GCSE and A level grades dipped. Mainly due I think to the removal of most of the exam concessions post covid and them returning to.pre covid marking.

As you HOD said you can only really compare 2023 results to 2019 anything in-between was affected by covid. Also schools didn't have to publish results either and some seem to have been reluctant to return to publishing them.

Yes - it's been pretty well publicised! DfE pegged grades back to pre-Covid levels.

Thank you. A couple of schools need us seem to have maintained their levels but lots haven’t!

But what do you mean by "maintained their levels"? If they are coming at below 2019 then, that's a failure to maintain, but being below 20-22 isn't a actually a decline.
