Hello,

My son has just started his A levels and has announced that he would potentially like to go to University in the States, in particular he is interested in Columbia University. I just wondered if anyone had been through the process and had any tips, advice or guidance please? Many thanks!

DC is currently applying; Columbia have masses of admissions videos, webinars and talks so.he should sign up now for those. I would def visit if you can - it is very much part of NY rather than a discrete small town campus. It is relatively unusual to only apply to one of the top univs - admission rates for an international can be sub 1% and the work to apply is quite substantive. Also a strong spiked profile (sport, science research, music, etc) is quite an asset in US applications. Finally do check the aid position if you are looking for financial aid - not all USA univs offer or are need blind to internationals. Happy to answer questions - some others on the board have children at or applying to the USA
