Place withdrawn after a few weeks

I originally posted this in chat last night but was advised to move it her so I have copied and pasted as I don’t know how to move it. Any advice would be great.

Posting here for traffic, not a bashing. Emotionally I am done today.

My DC has been withdrawn from college as they suggest they aware unable to meet their needs. They decided this a couple of weeks ago as we had a meeting and agreed to try and see how things would go. Since then communication from college has been thin, I’ve emailed with questions and asked for help with things, and they today said they had frozen all contact while the issue was being dealt with. This clearly meant my DC was not being supported. A simple meeting of a substitute tutor and a reply to a CAMHS email was all I was asking for so nothing unrealistic.

I was trying to arrange another meeting to get the ball rolling for an EHCP but was getting nowhere, until earlier this week when an in person meeting was requested. We arrived at the meeting to be told the place was being withdrawn and I could appeal.

DC suffers with social anxiety, depression, selective mutism and is awaiting an ADOS assessment. Attendance in lessons is low, but it increasing week by week. Subject assessments show work at target, even though this has largely been self taught in the college library. DC does attend lessons where possible and is never more than a day late to collect the work that may have been missed.

I don’t actually have the appeal in writing and they have mentioned attendance and unable to meet needs. Even though for the last 2 weeks they’ve not even been prepared to help.

Do I need this in writing? Any suggestions on what to put in my appeal?

Thanks

If somewhere like that isn't supportive now, they won't be in the future either. Is there somewhere else your DC can go? It's not worth the mental anguish trying to get support out of a place that isn't supportive.

@Thisisnotmyname2022 sorry to hear this, I feel for you. I agree with xyz111's point. I am sure there will be better supportive place and as far as I am aware after 16 final decision is set up's leadership decision! I wish you and your DC the best.
