Hello all, apologies if there is already a thread but I can’t find one.
May had finally rolled around and the first exam is a mere 2 weeks away. Exam stress has hit our house! It’s feels like everything is about waiting at the moment - waiting for the predicted grades, waiting for the uni offers, waiting for the exams to start, and then the long wait for the results!
This is our youngest DD but the first one in further education so would love to chat to other parents going through this

And good luck to those sitting last History today! Last push for my dd (suspect she was up most of last night). Tube is in 'good service' so one worry ticked off!

KittyMcKitty · 13/06/2023 07:15

Good luck to all dc today - no more here till Friday and then final 3 next week.

GayPareeee · 13/06/2023 08:08

History last exam for DS too, then round to his friends to play switch to celebrate. So much more innocent than we were

Forestfriendlygarden · 13/06/2023 08:28

Yes, good luck to maths and history buffs.
None here today until Friday when it's Biology and English third paper
last exam Biology (I think) Wed 21st.

Still no rain!

GayPareeee · 13/06/2023 08:40

We didn't here either - people within a mile of us on both sides had torrents but we (London suburbs) had only thunder and wind.

lastdayatschool · 13/06/2023 08:47

Final one today for DS 😀

Seems to have been revising forever so delighted for him it's all over

Maths this afternoon and Physics on Thursday morning. It’s going to be scorchio here today.

ZittiEBuoni · 13/06/2023 10:00

Good luck to the aptly named @lastdayatschool ds and to all mathematicians and historians today.

PacificState · 13/06/2023 10:23

We're into what feels like crunch week here for DS2 with maths or physics papers every day from now till Friday. A couple of them are ones he's not super keen on. He needs A stars so not much room for error. So, obviously, I woke up at 4.20 this morning (DS2 slept happily up to the alarm). Time seems to be moving extremely slowly!

Good luck to everyone with exams today

Goodness.
Good luck to you too PS and DS2.
We are also in a household that needs one A star and Two As.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 13/06/2023 11:55

There seem to be so many further maths exams. With maths as well it must seem relentless. Good luck to everyone and for those that have finished - enjoy!

Hellohah · 13/06/2023 12:15

DS just headed off for Maths Paper 2.
We had a storm last night (Manchester), house got hit by lightening which means we are now without Internet for god knows how long (which is a bit of a nightmare for my work and DS's revision). He's only got 2 left though after this one, so at least he's not got them all to still revise for.

Good luck to all again today

Heavens above (literally)
hope you are all okay.
Well done for getting DS off and well done to DS
not long now...

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 13/06/2023 12:49

Rather stressed Ds here this morning, gone off to do Maths now.

I've just booked him a Men.B vaccine- perhaps I won't mention that till next week.

Can I join the club of that too (i.e. I-won't-mention-that-to-DS/DD until-after-their-exams...) I've got a long list...😀

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 13/06/2023 13:58

😆 yes. My list includes "making sure you really do know how to clean a bathroom"

Definitely!

DS done too - schooling completed. Now the wait whether he can go onto Uni (thankfully no stars required for his offers)

Best of luck for those still to sit, especially Maths/Further Maths/Physics, seems so unfair that many people take all and yet the exams are so close

Hope you can get connected back soon @Hellohah

PacificState · 13/06/2023 15:09

Must feel strange to know they've finally finished school! DS2 is my youngest and I realised last week that I am in to my last few weeks of 'school run' after 16 years. (I still drive him to the station to catch the train because I am a soft touch.) I doubt I'll ever be able to sleep past 7am on a weekday again.

Congrats to all who have finished - hope you all have a well deserved GinBrewWinein the sun. It's all quite bittersweet isn't it - trying not to think about the definitive end of childhood or I will start wailing.

Yes, maths/FM/physics is feeling pretty relentless right now. Payback for the early weeks when they had barely anything!

Forestfriendlygarden · 13/06/2023 15:18

Can imagine they are mixed feelings. Such a transition you are right.
I'm doing life admin for organising a spanish course for DD after the exams - in theory things will get less busy...in practice I'm not so sure...

Yes, definitive end of schooling. Parts I'm not sorry to say goodbye to and as someone said end of an era...congrats to those already completed.

A week tomorrow seems an age away at the moment but I'm sure it will go quicker than I think.

ladydiggins · 13/06/2023 15:36

Glad I am not alone on having a 'things to discuss after the exams' list...

AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough · 13/06/2023 15:46

Oh we have a ‘things to discuss’ list too. Ours includes a serious consideration of submitting a change of mind form for CAO before the July 5th deadline - I am really wondering if DD has made the right call on her top choice for Uni, but know she doesn’t have the headspace to even consider looking again at the option she previously discarded until exams are over.

As well as that, we have exercise habits which have gone by the wayside recently to the detriment of her mental health, new passport application, new bank account and of course all the ‘how to be an independent adult in the real world’ stuff!

Forestfriendlygarden · 13/06/2023 15:50

I get it. What is CAO please? Something to do with Cambridge/oxford?

Mine missed her dental check up which is important and needs catching up on. Also they are supposed to have some vaccination when they go to uni forgotton the name of it?

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 13/06/2023 15:53

Check they've had MenACWY (meningitis, should have had at school age 14ish but some will have missed it). And consider Meningitis B (which you have to get at Boots or similar and pay for)
