Not sure of applying to college process.
Do you apply to more than 1 college in case of not being accepted?
When do you have to say which place you are accepting a college?

If you are talking about FE my GD definitely applies to two. The colleges when their deadline is for accepting a place.

depends on your expected grades/how sure you are.

if your child is likely to achieve grades and fairly set on what they’ll do, you could just apply to one.

otherwise very common to apply to multiple and confirm after results day

Ds only applied to one as only one did the course he wanted.

I live in Hants. It is perfectly standard here to apply to more than 1 college and then maybe reject some after taster days in July, and make a final decision after results.
You'd be stupid not to especially if undecided between A levels and BTECs, or your first choice has higher grade requirements than your second.

When I said 'you'd be stupid not to' I of course meant that if there were any possibility of changing your mind / not getting grades.
My DD1 applied to 3 as she wasn't even clear if she was going to do A levels or not.
DD2 only applied to 1 as we'd known for years what course she would want and there was only 1 college that did it, at different entry levels.
