For all those following a less conventional path

Three years ago my DD firmly told me that she did not want to do A-Levels and that she wanted to pursue an extended OCR diploma in performing arts.
I am a firm believer in they will do best in what they wanted to do. So I swallowed my concerns and supported her. She got a place and embarked on her course in Sept 20.
OCR results were published today and this was the right path for her. Despite large numbers of staff at school telling her she was making the biggest mistake of her life.
A-levels are not the only path and are not right for everyone.

This is such an encouraging story - thanks for sharing. My DC is not very academic and is staying on at 6th form to do BTEC's one of which I'm not entirely happy with but she is interested in the subject so I will support her with this. Well done to your DD on her diploma in performing arts. Has she got any further plans.

@isitme111 she has a place at a top flight performing arts degree. Again continuous assessment.

My daughters GCSE teacher wanted her to apply to study Philosophy at Cambridge.

She’s currently at drama school studying Musical Theatre!

The private school Ds attended in Year 7 & 8 told me that if I removed him he would not achieve his potential. He’s currently on course for Dstar Dstar D in his music Btec and has a place at conservatoire in September. More importantly, he’s happy whereas he was very unhappy before.

That's so encouraging @Lonecatwithkitten as my DD is quite firmly asserting her desire not to go to the rather good local 6th.

Well done to your DD looks like she put in the work and got her rewards.

Also yes A levels are not the only route
