Posting in AIBU too just for the traffic, hoping anyone has any helpful feedback on woodhouse college as DS (16)has to choose by this Friday and is confused between that and his current school's sixth form - MHCHS.

Hopefully experiences from the last five years perhaps?

I should add he's very bright, bored with STAFF + the militant regime at MHCHS but has two very close friends there.

Hi, I went there. I was very glad to get in as it gave me a sense of independence that I didn't get at my secondary school. It also gave me more confidence and, as there were so many people there, opportunity to have several different friendship groups. You do have to be disciplined and motivate yourself to work instead of ending up in the high street during free periods!

Oh brilliant Proudplantowner that's incredibly helpful

Any recent reviews of Woodhouse? Some people seem to comment on bad management? Is that the case? What is Learning support like?

Happy Woodhouse parent here. I think the new head is good (though of course I didn't know the old one).
Can't comment specifically on learning support but would say your child needs to be quite self-reliant and driven to do well. The pace is fast and there is little spoon-feeding. A lot of independent study, although I hope that learning these skills now will serve my DC well when they go on to Uni.
