If your DC are at the 6th Form or have been, would you please let me know your opinions good or bad?
Also any other recommendations for 6th Form in the Knaresborough/Harrogate area. Much appreciated.

Name changed for this. DS went to John Fisher and is at joint Fishers/Aidans sixth form coming to end of year 13. Difficult to say how it’s been with COVID, but the advantages usually of a joint sixth form have been negatives in COVID as not allowed in other school except for lessons and he has lost quite a few teachers at end of year 12. Replacements have been good but still very disruptive for A levels. Am hoping none of this would be an issue for this September and new joiners. Also having two separate Office accounts and two separate Teams accounts is a massive pain! Some teachers use Teams for work and others don’t. There is a lot of disparity technology wise.

I know people with kids at all Hgte and Knaresborough sixth forms except Harrogate High and all have advantages and disadvantages. Friend is moving her Year 11 from King James as wasn’t happy with lower school teaching and despite shiny new sixth form block she just isn’t happy with the school. I think Boroughbridge High are closing their sixth form and amalgamating with King James?

Also depends on what courses yours wants to do as for example history syllabus at A level different at Harrogate Grammar to Fishers/Aidans. DS looked at Harrogate Grammar but decided to stick to Fishers. Grammar have a nice separate sixth form block.

Friend has a year 11 who has loved Rossett and done well but moving for sixth form to Aidans due to the specific A level subjects theirs wants to study.

Also if you live in Knaresborough factor in travelling time which can be a nightmare to Harrogate schools.

Hope that helps.
