The Henley College or Reading College?

Hello
We are moving to the area in the summer and I’m looking for a sixth form college for my daughter. She would prefer a college to a school, she’ll be doing science subjects.

What do these two have going for them?

We’ll be visiting both towns soon.

Any advice much appreciated.

My daughter went to Henley, she is in her second year of Uni now. She blossomed there and also made a great group of friends. She was doing humanities rather than science subjects.

How did you get on with visiting @WeRock?

Hello
We loved Henley! We only saw the college from outside tho as no tour possible, but my daughter has applied anyway and to a school in the area as well.

At least now we know where we wave to be in the immediate future.

Henley is a beautiful town. My daughter had to get two trains to get there but she loved it.

My daughter is hoping to start at Henley College this September. We live 30 minutes away and she will catch the bus. I'm going to try and make contact with other new student families before then as we've heard from existing students that making friends can take a while.

I would say it depends on where you will be living. We live in woodley and it’s a long trek on the college bus and expensive per year for the pass. That’s is what put ds off. The thought of getting the bus at 7am being stuck in Henley all day and then it getting home until gone 6pm.
that would have had an effect on sporting activities as well as he would have missed training three nights a week.
but if you are living closer to Henley than reading then great.
obviously Henley is nicer than Reading. It’s a small market town with a small town centre right on the river. Whereas Reading college is on the outskirts of reading town centre on a busy main road in a rundown part of town.
but in terms of education I would put them at equal.

as it happened ds went to BCA but did his training at BCA so he didn’t miss out and joined the BCA academy. Dd is just about to do gcse and then plans on staying on for 6th form.
