Can DD start a new level 3 course despite already completing a year in a different course

DD finished her GCSEs last year and enrolled on a level 3 extended diploma at college, she has completed the first year and has been awarded a level 3 foundation diploma.
Unfortunately she's probably not going to be able to complete this course, for funding reasons is it possible for her to start a different level 3 extended diploma.
Also if she did this would it affect her being able to get funding for a level 4 course or does that come out of the degree pot, she would also want to do a degree.

Young people can get 3 years worth of funding for level 3 courses. It isn't unusual for them to redo year 12.

It seems a little odd that funding for your DD's course has dried up. What is she studying?

Student loans for degree courses come out of a different pot BTW, so it won't affect that.

Why would she do a level 4? You can go from level 3 to uni. She can restart a different level 3 , assume there are no longer enough students or teaching staff for the second year, although that seems poor. Can she transfer her credits to another level 3? There should be Information and Guidance on this and funding via her college if she contacts Student Services.

@RampantIvy I didn't mean she can't complete it due to funding reasons but will she be entitled to funding for another level 3 course (I was too busy wondering if it was affect or effect, I never checked if the rest made sense Grin).
Thanks for the info that she should be able to start again Smile

I was trying to be vague and concise Grin
It's nothing to do with the college, I don't want to give too much information but it's performing arts and offers of foundation courses prior to degree are common.
DD will check with college if she can move straight into second year on a similar course but if not I wanted to know if she would be entitled to funding to start at year 1 which it seems it will be.

My DS did one year of a btec course but realised it wasn't for him. He then chose A levels and did that for two years at another college.
His new course was sorted out before the start of term but if there's a place on the course your DD wants to do there should be no issues.
You should be able to get child benefit for the whole time she is in full time education too.
