Advice for dd after A Level results - can she defer and make a new 2022 application

dd got the grades needed for her insurance choice but wants to defer entry to 2022. She was thinking of re-applying to other unis now that she knows her grades but can she accept the insurance offer and then defer (if accepted by the uni) whilst applying for other unis in the next application window?

I don't think she can as UCAS will view her as placed.

No. If she wants to make a new application for 2022 entry, she needs to reject her current place in order to do so.

Ah OK. Thanks for clarifying things.

She can accept her current offer, defer to next year and then see who else might accept her during clearing next year.

Or I would maybe suggest she sees who will accept her through this year's clearing and whether they would allow her to defer. She doesn't need to give up her current offer to find out who will accept her, she can just ring the university's clearing phone number and get a verbal offer over the phone based on her grades.

If there's a particular university she's interested in but they don't have a place in clearing the. it might be worth asking them whether she meets next year's requirements so that she knows whether to give up the current offer and make a new application to them in the autumn.
