A level summer 2021 exam fees

My dd's school is asking her to pay £200 towards the cost of her Chemistry exam that she will sit this May. This is the exam she was not able to do last summer but got a CAG for instead. For the past year she has been studying by herself and is now going to sit the exam at her old school as a private (Yr 14) candidate.

Anyone in the same boat of having to fork out £200 for the exam or should the school be picking up this cost?

Most schools charge pupils for resits OP.
This will cover the cost of the assessments and the exam certificates etc

@catndogslife thanks but I thought that as she has never sat these exams then they were not being treated as resits. In any case does the school not get the costs that you mentioned covered by the DofEducation?

Thought you may say that. More information below.
Information for private candidates from AQA is in the link.

Looks as if the fee may be a late entry one and should be refunded by the exam board.
Really you should be contacting the school. You are very close to the late entry deadline so delaying much longer may mean that your dd won't be entered for the assessments at all.

Letter was sent to us by her old school on the afternoon that schools closed for Easter break. So no opportunity to query anything with the school. Deadline for entry in the letter was 16 Apr so again whilst the school was closed for Easter break. I have accepted it - nothing else I could do. But I posted on here to see what the position was with other people's schools.

Is she actually on roll at the school as an official pupil? If not, and she is a private candidate then yes, of course they will ask you to pay the exam fees.

She completed Yr 13 last summer at the school. As soon as she was able to she lodged a request with school that she was going to redo the exam rather than accept the CAG she got from the school. The school said she could do the exam with them. She didn't want to do the Oct one but wanted the summer one. And here we are now. The Oct one was at no cost.
