Has anyone experience of doing A Levels at school and L3 Diploma at FE college?

dd has seen a course she'd really like to do at the local FE college but would also like to do 2 a levels at school. The school have said no for funding reasons but I just wondered if this was the case generally.

Does the college offer the same A levels?

That is the case at the college I work in - funding is attached to the learner and can't be split between 2 places.

A L3 dip is the equivalent of 3 A levels. I have known a few learners to try and do A levels plus their L3 at the same time and it is very hard.

My dd did a Level 6 diploma at school (no I havn't got that wrong, its normal in performing arts) and she did an A level alongside, plus a self-study A level.

For the self-study A level the GCSE teacher of that subject agreed to mentor her and she linked up with a teacher from another 6th form who did offer that subject at A level for advice/guidance and moderation. (and due to exam cancellation we were very grateful of that external input!)

But assuming it's the Level 3 Extended Diploma, that is equivalent to 3 A levels (although a few 6th forms/colleges offer the Diploma that is equivalent to 2 A levels) At my son's college, subject to timetabling constraints a few students are able to do 1 A level alongside the diploma. Another local college offers the 2 A level equivalent alongside 2 A levels or a separate diploma. It's not possible to be enrolled at two educational institutions like that unless there is a formal partnership already in place. The most you could do would be self-study online but to do 2 A levels alongside a L3 Extended Diploma would be madness.

That makes sense. Perhaps it's something she can consider doing instead of or after A Levels. It is a creative course so we'll have a chat and discuss her options again.
