Oxford Brooks uni V Southampton

Daughter looking at physio degree anyone any experience of these 2 universities? Thanks

My son went to Southampton and my daughter Oxford Brookes, although neither of them did physiotherapy. I might be able to help with more general questions.

I’ve heard Southampton hugely academic and the focus is less on student welfare than results and oxford Brooks has very mixed reviews in terms of education input/support and the amount there is of either! Also accommodation - both sound as if they present a new build for virtual tours but what you actually get is run down and not always fit for purpose. That worries me less - I just want her to be safe and to meet/make some new friends! Southampton suggests it’s very big and can be quite lonely?

Southampton is one of the top places for physiotherapy and also a Russell group university.

As universities there's no comparison between Southampton and Oxford Brooks- Southampton is much better. Not sure for physio though.

I can only speak for OB. My ds is there. Halls accommodation is a bit run down where he is but they are refurbishing his halls this year.
He’s happy, has made friends and it seems like a safe place to be.
I have a couple of colleagues who studied physio there and they loved it, really enjoyed their uni years and had no complaints about the course.

When you’re able to, go to oxford and Southampton and get a feel for the place. Most students will make friends wherever they go!
