DD off to uni - gift?

My DD is off to uni next week. I want to get her a gift to let her know we are thinking of her, something 'special' but maybe also useful for her first time being away from home looking after herself, any ideas?

Hair dryer,

hair straighteners
Nutri bullet
Headphones
Beauty box subscription
Veg box subscription
Bag for uni (let her chose)

An aunt got me a lovely big cup and saucer and I used it every day.

A heated or weighted cosy blanket

All good ideas!

I like the cup and saucer idea. She loves a coffee. Maybe a nice travel mug?! I think a Nespresso machine might be a step too far for halls?!

I wanted to do a beauty pie subscription but I'm not sure about the post and halls?

If you send her up with a Nespresso machine Make sure there’s a Lidl nearby, 11p pod or be prepared to send £50 coffee/ month.
DS had a hallmate with a machine and snaffled back a few tubes of pods as the machine was going unused.

I'm sure there will be a Lidl near by! Sainsbury's have pretty decent 16.5p pods too. Hmmm not sure about that. She'd prefer a Nintendo switch 😂😂

An expensive Klean canteen thermos so she can make coffee/tea for lectures etc.
Cash

The best best thing was regular and hilarious letters and postcards.

If she’s a homebody (as I was), an expensive scented candle, potted plant, framed photo, throw and cushion, were luxuries that made my room v cosy.

My folks gave me a cookbook. Dad made it a leather cover with pockets for adding my own recipes. It's still used on a regular basis. It functional and unique and a lovely reminder of my parents.

That's a lovely thought- combination of practical but also keepsake/ souvenir of home.
