DD trying to choose, so information on the student experience at each would be much appreciated! Pros and cons apparent for her at each...

TIA Smile

Just got a notification there was a reply on this thread only to see it was deleted - so curious as to what such an innocuous OP query provoked!

Please if any current students or parents of students at either could give some info on what it is like to be a student at either, it will really help DD with her decision ( for context she is quite a shy person - until she feels comfortable somewhere - currently in a year group of c. 100 students. Loves drama and musical theatre and is also quite academic but doesn’t enjoy being pressured. Wants to study a range of subjects including science and humanities).
Hope there might be some more helpful replies in the near future Smile

I think the atmosphere at them is very, very different. We don't have first hand experience, but DC of friends at both have loved both, but are very different DC. DC at Esher liked the variety (social and academic), the freedom and the big change in atmosphere from school. DC at Tiffin thrived on high pressure. All DC did well in their A Levels. I think it is very much horses for courses.

My own DCs all looked at Esher, and decided for different reasons it wasn't right for them. They have all stayed on at their own school for sixth form.

Thanks persephonecall She hates being pressured so it sounds like EC is going to be much better for her! It is the one she preferred and their pre-arrival materials and communication have been outstanding. But it's still hard to turn down a place at a school like Tiffin which is so hard to get into and has such a good academic reputation...
Hope that everything can start in-person in September given the cancellation of all the Induction days...
Appreciate the feedback from those who responded either by DM or here. Have a great summer everyone!

Which one did your DC choose in the end?
We're considering Esher college for a DD that is currently at an all girls

I know this thread is old, but wanted to say to my knowledge current year 12s at Esher are having or have had one week on of lessons and one week off due to Covid. Local school sixth forms in our borough have not done this, they have been in when allowed every week. It’s a great college but I would check if this is, or is likely to be the case in September if cases pick up again.
