Incompetent and inappropriate teachers...college not helping

Hi all I am not technically a Mum but I look after my 16 yo niece a lot as her home situation is complex and could use some advice.

She is in 1st year at college and really struggling with one course. She is a very hardworking and bright kid so I don't think it's down to her. She says she has one teacher who is months behind marking their work and so she knows she got an E in her last in -school test but has had no feedback. He also confuses her when she tries to get clarification on things.

Her other teacher is more knowledgable but not approachable. She says he stares at girls in the class for an inappropriate amount of time and does not stop even when they ask.

All the kids and some of their parents have complained but nothing has been done and meanwhile she is falling behind and stressing out. We would be happy to get her a tutor but I sort of want her to be out of that situation.

Does anyone have experience of this? Could she switch to another course and would you recommend it? Or if not how can we get the college to actually do something?

TIA x

It's almost impossible to switch courses after the end of the first term. The college should have a policy on this though.

Has your niece spoken to the lecturer first o ask for feedback and then her tutor for their input? I would suggest that you look up the college complaints policy online. Complaints often have to go through the tutor and head of department.
