Counselling courses - help and advice

'Morning all,

Are any of you qualified counsellors? Can anyone steer me through the overwhelming amount of information regarding counselling courses and where to start?

A bit of background: I have an intermittent disability which meant I had to leave my career. I've had time to think about what I'd like to do next and studying to become a counsellor is something that's been on my radar for years. But where do I start? I don't have a degree but I'd like to eventually get on to a BACP accredited course, but are these only degree courses?

My local college offers a Counselling Skills Level 2 course, but does that need to be accredited?

Any advice would be appreciated

That level 2 course could be an ideal start; to help you find out for sure if becoming a counsellor is right for you, and also as it's likely to be the first qualification you'd need to achieve on the journey to qualifying as a counsellor. I'd recommend you contacting that local college and speaking to the course tutor or advice team to find out more. Good luck.
