Benefits and uni

I study with the OU and have been claiming ESA but expecting that to end soon (waiting to hear from assessment)

I don't want to have to give up my studying which in the long run would lead to a career

But obviously need to pay my rent (council) etc and support my child

I didn't go to university as a teen, could I potentially increase my studying to do it faster and apply for a student loan for living as well to come off benefits?

Or is that just mad?

Yes you can.

I'm out of date re benefits these days but you used to be able to claim benefits as a single parents as well as getting a student loan.

You will need to be studying at least 50% of a full time course.

If you arecon universal credit rhey reduce the amount you get due to any student finance you receive. This is not the case if you're on tax credits
