Advanced Learner Loan when I already have a Student Loan?

I was at university between 1998 and 2001. I took out a student loan to pay the fees, in fact I think I may have been in one of the first group of students to pay fees.
The degree was in photography, which in terms of getting a job has been pretty much useless. This was before digital photography was widely used so we learnt the old fashioned way.

Last year I decided I wanted to learn a new trade. I chose hairdressing as this was something I'd always kind of dabbled in. It was a level 2 course and I didn't need to pay any fees as my husband is disabled and receives benefits.
I did really well on this course and was advised to apply for the level 3 course, which I did.
I've since found out that I will not get fee remission for this as I already have a level 3 qualification. I was advised to apply for an advanced Learner Loan, but I wasn't sure if I would get another loan as my previous one is still outstanding.

I can't do this course without financial help. Can anyone advise?

Thanks

I got an advanced learner to do an Access course when I’d already had two years of a student loan with no problems.

I already had level 3 qualifications too

Do you think it matters what course you are taking? I know that with stuff like nursing and dentistry there are exceptions made.
