Hi, I've posted about my step son before, under my old username. He didn't want to retake his maths gcse etc and his heart isn't really into his studies atm. He has done one year of Alevels and unfortunately hasn't passed enough to progress to year 13.

He hasn't any idea what to do now. He has anxiety issues and didn't want to go to college and still doesn't, which is why he went to sixth form.

What are my next steps? I know I have to tell Child Benefit, and Tax Credits.

Anyone been through similar or have any advice?

I think if he registers with the careers service Connexions? locally you can still claim CB and CTC for a short time.
Have a look at the Princes Trust they have lots of advice for young people in your stepson's position.

Has he got his gcse Maths , or Functional Skills Numeracy level 2 now? Could an apprenticeship be a possibility?

Thank you, will check out both of those sites.

He has his gcse maths now, an apprenticeship looks the most promising to me but he needs to choose an area he'd like to work in first. He's not sure, so maybe ICT or business studies as that's a basis for many jobs.
