It depends on the school or college. At DD's school the students need a minimum of 3 Ds to do year 13. St Olaves have been in the news recently because they wouldn't accept anything less than Bs.

I would suggest that you do not continue Maths to A2 if you got less than a D (or possibly very high E) at AS. This is because there would be a good chance of failing A-level completely as A2 builds on AS knowledge, and for this year at least, AS module results count towards 50% of the final A-level grade.

If you did have a D/high E and were continuing to A2, you should probably resit at least one of the AS modules.

Depends on the school. Where I teach we ask for D unless exceptional circumstances.

At DD's college is is minimum of D in AS or internal mocks

Things have changed a bit since I was at school. I did work quite hard during my lower sixth year and was actually able to take my foot off the gas a bit in my upper sixth, but most people coasted through the lower sixth and enjoyed life, and maybe did an extra GCSE on the side, and still got decent grades at the end.

Now the pressure seems to be on all the time. I'd have thought a lot of people do badly in exams because they haven't put the work in, not because they don't have the ability.
