Apologies if this isnt the most appropriate place to post this.
I'm thinking of applying for a job as a Specialist Learning Mentor working with young people with challenging behaviour at a college. I have a lot of experience working with vulnerable young people but in the Health sector, although my current job involves a lot of liaison and consultation with schools.
The job description is really quite vague so I am keen to know more about the day to day realities of the job. I would also be interested to know whether there are any opportunities for progression, how working in a college environment differs from that of a secondary school and whether I am right in thinking that my previous experience and skills (predominantly child and adolescent mental health) would be transferable. Also would you say this is more of a pastoral role or a teaching role?
Any insight anyone can offer would be much appreciated.
