Resitting A levels and implications for applying to uni

DD is 19 and is disappointed with A levels (CCE - Maths, Physics and English). She wants to resit them in a year and apply to university. I want her to retale Maths and Physics in 1 year and take a totally different subject for the third. She does not want to lose another year and wants to retake all 3 in one year and apply for uni.
However, I am not sure about applying to universities. Will they not take her current grades and base their offer/refusal on this? Will she ultimately have to take a year out and apply after she has got her A level results.

You need to let her do as she chooses....at 19 it's understandable that she wants to get it all done asap. Her subject choice is also her decision to make...has she sought advice at school?

It's her choice IMO

If she applies to Uni and gets no offers then she can reapply the following year with her full grades (hopefully improved) and have a gap year which she could do something positive with

Ds retook his A levels this year and had no problem with offers. He retook physics and some further maths. All i can say is that his firm last year gave him a better offer, although he decided to go elsewhere in the end and will be starting there in a month.

What subject does she want to do in uni and what is the usual offer?

Resitting would be regarded unfavourably by the most competitive universities, so she'd be ruling those out. But CCE rules them out anyway!

Is she 19 now, or nearly 19? If she's 19 now she isn't entitled to any further level 3 education, unless she goes to a private school. She'd be liking at paying for evening classes.

She isn't too late to start university this year you know....

Ds had offers from 2 RG unis as well as others well regarded for subject. He got 5 offers this year

DS's friend has done resits this year and had offers from (IIRC) Exeter, Coventry, Bristol and Durham. I think he had BCD grades first time round and A*AA this time.
That was through a tutoring college, and the universities took the college's predicted grades into account on the UCAS form, I think.

Some very competitive courses courses at some uber competitive universities explicitly will not accept resits or A levels completed over 3 years and say this in their entry qualifications. This probably does not affect most students and doing resits is probably worth it if she really wants to keep going until she is 20.

Resits are not normally seen as a problem, I am surprise to hear some people saying they are.

resits certainly put you at a disadvantage, but that is not to say they exclude you totally from applying to university.

But if she is 19 who is going to pay? You? her? it will cost thousands in a private school, and she is too old for a state school
