Have I set myself up to fail? Mature student with DCs

I'm currently doing an access course to go back to uni and have applied (probably like many mnetters' children) for law starting this autumn. So far I've heard nothing from any of the universities I have applied to and am freaking out. I'm working my arse off on this course but think I might break soon if I don't hear anything.
Does anyone have any positive stories about going back to FT education to stop me freaking out? How long did it take for offers to come in after you applied?

I can't be much help, I only applied for uni 2 weeks before the course started.

At the moment the universities are all interviewing and having open days so don't worry they will process your application.

Good luck with your course

I'm doing the same but for a clinical course. My 5 are still with the uni's too. Gahhhhh. I'm getting the mega wobbles too, especially with all the health & economy related headlines inducing The Fear. Hang on in there. Flowers

Good luck Squeezy. We can panic together!

Just got an email this eve with a conditional offer to one uni. It's my last-choice back-up but at least I'm going somewhere. Don't know what the grades needed are though because UCAS Track is down for maintenance until Monday morning and I only got the email at 6.05pm!

I know - it's the waiting! Must remember that UCAS closing was only last Friday so hopefully should hear soon. Where have you applied?

All uni's localish to me (within 90min), 4 ex polys and 1 RG. Have to stay local because of kids, house and DH's job.

I wasn't classed as a mature student when I first went but can remember the nerves well. I didn't get any offers until about March. I've many friends who've done like you, the access course followed by uni with kids - one's a single mum of three and now in her 2nd year. It's tough but I think you learn to manage your time a lot better than 18 year old undergrads and I think it's definitely worth it in the end. Good luck :)

So got a chance to check the offer today. It's for two Bs in my units on the access course. Fingers crossed I can get them! Keep me updated Squeezy

Hiya.

I teach access and have loads of students (past and present) who are going for interviews at the moment. And many who are at University, having been through the whole process and coming out the other side.

Be patient. It will happen!
