Free short training courses for DD Excel etc?

My DD is 18 and doing bar work but wants to get training on Excel, Office skills etc to enable her to get a better job. Does any one know of free day training she could access for free as she and I have very little money. Thank you

Did she study them at school at all? I'm not sure of free courses, there are often very cheap ones available through our local library. I'd also recommend online tutorials - they can be really good too.

Shame she isn't over 19...

Look at local colleges, they sometimes offer free short courses.

Lots of videos on Youtube.

Some local colleges where I live offer these courses for free in conjunction with the local council for people who want to get back to work or improve their prospects. I would call the local Job centre, council and colleges to find out what they offer. Sometimes I think you can even get admin internships through these courses too. I live in London so not sure if it would be the same where you are but might be worth a shot.

Does the local FE college offer ECDL courses? These are often on a drop in basis or part online tutorials in modules. If she works limited hours and claims any benefit she may well qualify for a concessionary place.

Thanks everyone for these really good ideas. I'll get her on to it tomorrow. :) Many thanks again x
