can someone explain what an applied a level is please?

applied a levels are in vocational, job related subjects like health and social care rather than academic subjects like biology, chemistry and physics.

Thanks strawberry, on DDs 6th form forms there is applied science and ICT, are they still an A level in terms of applying to university?

They are but the more selective universities won't accept them - consider them similarly to Critical Thinking and General Studies.

They wouldn't be suitable preparation for a science degree.
