Has anyone gone through the process of adopting a child placed with them?
We have expressed an interest in adopting a yp in our care currently. Yesterday a social worker came round to complete the viability assessment. All was going well and then my partner asked what she thought our chances were. The social worker was very rude and said your dogs need sorting out (because on first meeting they wanted to sit next to her on the sofa). I was a little shocked as both dogs have already been assessed for fostering and no issues were raised.
She also told us that because we have had 2 failed placement whilst fostering we haven't demonstrated our ability to raise a child from 0-18. This has upset me considerably because I have a biological son who is older and had left home, also the placements she is referring too had ended because ss had withheld information in the referral and the placements were completely inappropriate for our home environment ( which they admitted).
I feel very despondant and like we are being penalised for their errors.
She has not made her decision yet but I'm heartbroken by these comments.
Has anyone got any advice please?
Thank you
