Bit of a long one but will try keep it as simple as possible.

My childrens dad has younger half siblings, when their father died 10 years ago his younger siblings got taken into care half way across the country. One of his half brothers have always stayed in contact with my daughter, who is the same age (16) Recently he rang & said he wants to leave his foster placement & come & live with me. As i am no longer with my childrens dad, would it be possible for him to live with me as im not blood related? If so how does he go about it?

So in this situation the Local Authority are the decision makers, although at 16 they will take his views into account.

Long story short it is possible but the Local Authority will need to be convinced you're a safe person for him to live with, so they will likely do a "connected person" assessment of the you. This will be along the lines of the assessment a foster carer would have to have.

The starting point is for him to speak to his social worker and ask for them to start the process. Be warned he may need to be persistent.
