Can foster child sleep (alone) in a double

I'm thinking about fostering in the future. This seems like a frivolous question, but I'm doing my spare room up a bit, and trying to make it a room for adults to stay, but also easy to 'flip' into a child's room.

Basically I'm just wondering if a foster child would be able to sleep (alone) in a double bed - maybe with a single duvet. I have friends who have similar arrangements for their kids, but I know fostering is different.

If not I'll think about getting a bed which can convert. I don't have space for a toddler bed/cot and wouldn't really be able to foster children that young in any case.

Thanks for your time, in know it's a silly question compared to the others on here!

What age group are you looking to foster? I can't imagine it's a problem once they are a bit older but maybe for little ones.

Yes they can. They can’t share a bed.

They cant share a bed or a room

They shouldnt be turfed out if a guest stays either

Yes, don't worry I have no intention of turning them out! I'd just like to be able to have friends staying etc when the room is available, and if fostering doesn't work out then not to have bought two beds.

I'd be looking to foster school-age children, but this is very early days so I'd have to see what they say.

Thank you so much for the replies 😊

Yes, it would be fine.

I was told, (a few years back) that double beds were not considered appropriate. So might be worth checking out with SW as it could vary between authorities or it might have just changed now.

Mine all sleep in doubles

You could get a bed that converts to singles?

Don't assume school aged means they are at school all day and you can work in those hours.

They are likely to have school attendance issues and you will have endless meetings/appointments during school hours.
