Will dd's friend be allowed to come on sleepover

DD wants to have a few friends for a sleepover during half term.

One of them is new to the school this year and Dd mentioned that she is fostered. I've not met her foster parents except in passing in the playground.

Will she be allowed to come if she's in a foster placement? Sorry know it sounds like a silly question but genuinely don't know.

It will just be a group of year 6 girls enjoying film, pizza, ice cream, chat and finally collapsing in sleeping bags if that has any bearing on issue

Yes usually. Her carer needs permission from the child's social worker though.
Children in care are encouraged to be treated the same as you would your own children.
I think rules were a lot stricter in the past and looked after children were missing out on a normal childhood.
Fortunately things have changed.

And just to add. The foster carer may have been given delegated responsibility which means she can make that decision herself, just as she would with her own child, as long as she informs the child's social worker.

One of ds's friends is a looked after child, although not within a family, and is not allowed to go anywhere except school without his carer. So I think it depends on circumstances.

I think I will say to dd not to say anything to her friend about it for now and will approach her foster mum in the playground to ask before sending out any invites.

I don't want her to get excited and then not be able to do it. I can invite the rest discreetly as I have contact details for their parents

Yippee just spoke to foster mum in school playground and she can come but they said as she was very nervous in new places would it be ok if she came round to play with foster mum once or twice before half term so she could get used to us and house before being left for sleepover .

No problem there Dd lives having friends round and foster mum seemed so sweet I'm more than happy to shovel coffee and biscuits into her
