Fostering

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on fostering.

Anyone know what is likely to happen in this situation?

Mother has 4 children. All have been in care at some point. When she got the youngest back, about a year later she was assessed to have the next youngest back too. During the assessment the child's social worker stated that if she were to get pregnant she would have little to no chance of getting that next youngest child back.

At the end of assessment child was placed with her, with some concerns but no real evidence of why child shouldn't go back. Both children with mum are subject of child protection plans (think that's the term).

Two older children are in long term foster care.

6 months or so after the child was placed back with mum, Mum has now announced she is pregnant. I know it depends on circumstances etc but, in your experience, what is likely to happen to the new baby? 2 kids with mum are under 6.

A social worker will do an assessment of the unborn baby to see how well she will be able to meet the babies needs, and whether the baby should stay with her or not. Older children will also be looked at, and their cp plans updated to see if the new baby will have an effect on her parenting of them, and if she can meet the needs of 3 children under six.
