Valuing Foster Children’s Relationships – ‘The Golden Thread’
A meeting of interested foster carers and professionals
Wednesday 10th September 2014 Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands

A recent Care Inquiry emphasised that ‘relationships with people who care for and about children are the golden thread in children’s lives’ and whilst many social workers recognise the importance of relationships foster carers have sometimes found barriers to maintaining well established relationships and feel decisions are not always in the best interest of the child.
Maybe you know of a former foster child who was prevented from seeing a valued former foster carer or a foster carer who was prevented from seeing a former foster child? Or, do you know a professional who wants to help children maintain these relationships?
If you have a story to tell, sharing it can make a difference. We are a group which is campaigning to improve practice, where necessary, and spread the word about what works well.
The group meets together in person and virtually (email, Skype etc) and is open to Foster Carers, care leavers and professionals who want to work together constructively to share good practice and enable young people going through the care system avoid the sense of multiple rejections. If you are unable to make the meeting but want to know more please get in touch via the website and share your story and expertise.
Together we hope to make a difference.
Thanks
