Advice on fostering - just starting the assessment process

Hello everyone, I'm new to this so looking for advice. I am 44, no birth children & 2 step teenagers. My partner and I going through the early stages of the fostering assessment process - we have our first meeting with the social worker this week. I am really keen to help children, to be a temperary parent to children in need. I have so much to give and I would love to here some experiences. One thing I am very concerned about is my DSD & DSS are very spoilt and I worry how this might impact / affect a foster child. Will we be showing a child a life he/she may never see again, this really does worry me. Another point which worries me is how children are treated differently. Obviously my DSD & DSS have parents who don't necessarily do things the way I would, which I do find difficult at times, however I have to accept as they are not my children. With the foster child I will obviously have more influence. Again, what impact will this have on the foster child.
