Going back to when you were first approved as foster carers

Hi all,

Just curious as to how long between you being approved until getting your first placement.

Hope it's going well

They went back home yesterday, my head is still reeling and i have caught a really bad cold of one of them. They were brilliant kids and despite health problems made it easy for me. Mum wasn't all bad so they have gone back but will be monitored for a while. Thank God for 24 hr supermarkets. Baby came with a bottle and 4 nappies which were too big for her... All three only had one set of clothes and full asthma medication wasn't with them hence a short hospital stay.. Plus i am only approved for 2 kids lol. But i have learned a lot from my first placement.

Yep 3 Kids, now all gone home. Lovely but so tiring. I was only approved for 2. This was an emergency placement so thank God for the 24 hr supermarkets. They came with one set of clothes and i never set up a cot as i was told the chance of a baby coming is very very low. But i survived, just nursing this awful cold i was given as a goodbye gift lol.

Well done Ruby. Enjoy the rest while you can. Now they know you can do it you will be asked again very soon, I am sure!!

I got loads of colds and stuff when I first started......being exposed to all those germs x

Kids went home four days later,, i don't think it was as bad as they thought. Social worker was annoyed with the police for taking them as it wasn't that bad a situation. ( however parent was arrested and said there was no one else to look after the kids so didn't help themselves either)
Lovely kids, said i was a great foster carer and when i said you are going home now one said oh can't we stay a little longer. ( hope they don't tell their parent that when they get home)
