Fostering

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on fostering.

Can you realistically foster and work?

I've been thinking about fostering for a while but really not sure if it is at all possible as DH and I both work.

One of you needs to be at home.

No don't agree sorry the majority of of our foster carers that look after teens work pt but you do have to have someone at home if haveing pre school children

It depends on who you foster for and what age your planning to foster

But even with teens you need to be able to work pt and flexi time as social workers work 9-5 so any meeting will need Tobermory held with in that time

We both worked FT and fostered. My job was flexible and generally in school hours which helped. When we took on a preschool child social services paid for them to attend nursery. It's possible but insanely hard work, I now choose to stay at home.

I work part time, flexi hours every day but school hours most of the time and DH does shifts.

Maybe something to think about when DS is a bit older. He's very nearly 5 and I'm not sure how I would feel having a teen about as well.

DH and I both work full time and we've been fostering over 5 1/2 years. Obviously we only take school age children and I work in a school so that helps with the school holidays, so it works for us.

Hi hubby and I both work full time- school age LO. This was never raised as an issue by our LA. Only irritation for me is all training opportunities are timetabled on week days in term time.
