Hi all,I have been thinking about finding out more about fostering for a very long time.I have just sent off to one local authoruty for more info and have read all the useful threads on her.
Can anyone advise rewhich local authority they have found to be most supportive?Cheshire or Flintshire?
Any advice welcome!
Also, can you work as well as foster? I work 2 full, long days per week and enjoy it very much and would not want to give it up even if I could afford it-which I cant!
I have 2 children aged 16 and 12 but would ideally like to foster younger children.Advice and opinions welcome!

Hi onessa,

Can't answer your question about the two authorities, but it is possible to work and foster. It does depend on your job though, and the age of children you can take. I work in a school which gives me school holidays, and I use after school clubs a couple of times a week. Of course, we can only take school age children.
I don't know what your job is, but maybe you could do 3 shorter days, so that you were home at the end of the school day - only a thought.

HI, it's great you want to foster and i know some people work outside the home too.

If you want to do very young children under 5 then I think working outside the home becomes more tricky, the children have lost so much already and are looking for security and stability much more than birth children so really need a full time carer at home.

I think it would be easier with school aged children.

Hi I am a kinship carer so a bit different but hubby and I both work- me 41/2 days a week and him 5 shifts over seven days. It is exhausting though!
