Fostering

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on fostering.

Does anyone have a gag I can borrow

It's our yearly foster carers review in an hour or so and Dh is on his high horse.

What he's going to tell them about the "shambles" he perceives fostering to be is nobodies business.

Every year for the last 15 years I've done the reviews on my own as he was usually working away, this year he's home and ready for action!

I know we've had a really difficult time with this placement and very little practical support but there is a way of telling them this that doesn't involve steaming in.

So I plan to gag him if anyone has one please, otherwise any good luck vibes gratefully received

Not sure how well your review will go if you turn up with your DH gagged. You/he probably wouldn't need to say very much at all

They do the review here at our house, I should have said gagged and locked in the shed

All done We got glowing reports from our last couple of placements social workers and Dh was very good, or, possibly I didn't let him get a word in edgeways

I was going to suggest some really sticky toffees

How are things going with your current LO now ?

EarthMotherImNot · 13/07/2010 12:16

But he likes toffee

Things are going really well with lo, she is such a joy. She smiles all the time and has a really wonderful giggle if you tickle her tummy.

I can't believe sometimes that she is the same tiny screaming scrap that came to us 4 months ago. She is almost 12lbs and she's very beautiful

Her mum isn't doing as well but thats a whole different story!

Glad your review went well emin, I get nervous every year.

Minnerva · 13/07/2010 16:10

Oh EMIN I am so glad it went well-I do understand about DH -even after just a few months of fostering mine foams at the mouth and has to be restrained-we are very unpc though and come from the old school of 'common sense'!!!.

We are waiting for another placement now-have just got back from a break and feel ready to face the world-lovely to hear that your lo is doing so well.

Glad to hear it went well.. I can empathise because we've just had our first review.. been fostering for just over a year and a part of me was hoping I'd be able to manage it on my own but man was determined to be there and put his point across (we've had lots of problems with the local authority and information or rather lack of it) but all went well and I know I worry about him too much sometimes!

Thanks guys

I think one of the things, apart from my "speak and you're dead stares" that pleased Dh was a report the reviewing officer read out from our last adopters.

They were very complimentary about their introductions here and finished their report with the un pc words "Hurray for Mr and Mrs Emin"

Thank goodness its over with for another year though

Minnerva... hope you don't have to wait too long!
