Does anyone WANT to go to Germany?

DH and I were in Fally for 2 years but he was posted back here last year.

He is due a posting in May and I hope with every single fibre of my being we go back to Germany, can't get Fally but maybe Gutersloh or Bielefeld.

Does anyone else want Germany? Most people look at me like I'm mad! I adore Germany, the people, the food, the better quarters! The 16 months we've been back here have been the worst of my life, the house is disgusting, it's very isolated and I've found myself missing Germany every single day.

I find my friends is Germany are begging their DH's to move back but I'm begging mine to put Germany as his top choice

Any other German fans?

We might go back in May, DH got told today there is a job in Bielefeld he can apply for. I nearly cried

I need to go back. I feel so happy in Germany. I think I must have been a German in another life, I WANT to use cloth bags and sweep the snow by 7am

That's so funny . Me and DH just burst out laughing. I'm a cloth bag convert too.
Crossing my fingers for you to get the Bielefeld job then.
I've finally persuaded DH that on his next posting (either this or next year) we're all moving back together and not weekend commuting any more! I want to put Germany as our number one choice but he wants to put suffolk. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Ok we're doing the list.

  1. Bielefeld
  2. Rheindalen
  3. Edinburgh
  4. Chester

Is what I think should happen, I NEED some Germany action. If I don't get one of those spongue cakes with strawberries in jelly on the top I almost certainly die

I loved every minute of the two years we were in Gutersloh.

Hopefully one day we'll get a chance to go back.

Hmmmm - strawberry sponge cakes.
I liked the ones with sponge on bottom with plums and then streusel (crumble stuff) on top.

StrictlyKatty · 20/03/2010 20:24

Yummmmmm streusel!

I went to Lidl today to find Homann Nudelsalat or farmersalat, they didn't have it and I cried.... In Lidl!

I blame the hormones...

There must be somewhere you can get it right?!

That's so funny! I am imagining you (even though I've never met you) in Lidl sobbing into her basket!
I almost cried when I came back to UK only to find that Lidls in this country don't sell Frucht Quark (well, the apfelkuchen flavour anyway). I actually took it upon myself to write (in German) to the compnay that makes frucht quark asking them whether they thought in the future they might consider exporting it to the UK. They wrote back thanking me for liking frucht quart so much and they were sorry but no!
Lidl do nice kartoffel salat though.

StrictlyKatty · 22/03/2010 19:09

Yes! I may have got a MASSIVE tub of kartoffel salat to make up for it, and some cheese pasta, and panrika crisps and some multivitamin juice... not Punica mind, that would have been excellent.

Maybe I'll write to Homann and ask about their export plans for nudelsalat

Oh and sigikid asking them to sell more over here, and Haribo asking why they won't sell the sour cherries and Lindt asking why the range in Germany is massive but so rubbish here.

If we go back in may I'll post you fruct quark

Hmmmm - I can taste it now!
