DH has his selection interview with the RAF on thursday, I think I'm more nervous than him!

OracleInaCoracle · 05/05/2009 21:26

no loggie jobs? really?
blimey, they must have a lot at cranwell....

good luck! hope it all goes as you wish...

(do get him to read up exactly what atc will mean though... it's not as, um, varied...) they don't normally tell you what they're offering until post-selection do they? i thought you could put up to 3 branches on your application form?

OracleInaCoracle · 06/05/2009 17:03

Yes you can identify 6 positions - after speaking to a Sgt. at the recruitment centre yesterday, he was informed that they had put the Logistic positions 'on hold' Will tell him to research into AFC, thanks!

6?
is that a bit like 'actually i don't care what i do, just give me a job?'!

usually if you apply for your choice and pass selection, and your choice is oversubscribed, they offer you whatever is undersubscribed anyway lol...

hope it goes well!

OracleInaCoracle · 07/05/2009 21:09

well, logistics has a 1yr waiting list, so dh has been advised to go in through the normal recruit door instead. final interview at the end of the month ooooooh

madwomanintheattic · 08/05/2009 08:24

'normal recruit'?
what does that mean? i thought he was deciding which branch to put on his form?

not going for commission? joining as tg18?

(really hoping this isn't what happened lol and i've got the wrong end of the stick...)

glad he was happy with the interview though, and it sounds as though he's keen to proceed!

OracleInaCoracle · 08/05/2009 08:58

from what i can gather, he didnt know enough about the RAF tyo enter as an officer. however he could join the supply/logistics team instead and work his way up. tbh i think now, he just wants to join!

it's good he's made his decision as to the right route for him though - does he want to go tg18a or b?

really really really good luck with the interview at the end of the month! have they given him any idea of timescales if it all goes ok?

OracleInaCoracle · 08/05/2009 19:46

none taken, it was all really good advice. when he went in he was advised to apply as an officer first, but they have always known he was submitting a dual application. they didnt really give any indication of timescales, but obv going through the airman route things will get moving a lot sooner. we are all v v excited about it. the interviewing flt lt asked how i would feel about being posted in the middle of nowhere, dh laughed and said i'd be packing my bags. we are really committed to embracing forces life. in it for the long haul!

so supply or air movs?

OracleInaCoracle · 11/05/2009 18:29

i think he is looking at supply. he has been a buyer for 10yrs within an engineering environment, so supply seems the logical choice.

OP posts:
madwomanintheattic · 12/05/2009 10:00

i started as a supplier lol, then added in air movs later. can only do that with a commission though at the mo.

hope it goes well at the end of the month and he manages to find the route that suits him x

OracleInaCoracle · 12/05/2009 17:50

thank you. he is busy "studying" as I type!
