DH is away on a conference, organised by the MOD. I'm not saying where it is, only that its being held at a university town, with at least 3 military establishments that I can think of within 10 -30 mintues drive.

And where are they all styaing? In the Sgts and Officers messes within these military establishments? Are they heck, they are staying in a hotel, prices start at £90 per person per night! and there s about 12 of them.
And then they say the MOD has no money to buy equipment. Is it any wonder. Why do they do this? A couple of years ago he was down at Aldershot for 3 weeks on a course, and instead of putting him up int eh Mess, they had him in a hotel, at £90 per night and paid for all his meals as well!
I know when the service people go away now they seem to put them up in hotels don't they, instead of using the Mess.

The other side tho Satire, is when DH goes away with the team, (which is most of the year) they are often pushed into 12 man rooms, 1.5 hours away from the showground, with no food facilities for when they eventually get back after a show. (they have had to get a taxi into the nearest town to get pizza, their food allowance is £3.50 a day!)

Or stuck in tents on the showground, again on the £3.50 per day allowence, they can only buy burgers anyway.

They are very occasionally put in hotels.

Yes I can believe Saltire, that's the sad thing! As far as I can see the MOD waste so much money like this

They've got to have some treats!

The French seem to have them sleeping in tents or empty air-craft hangers. I know he's still a relatively junior officer but to be honest I'll take the hotel over the bronchitis he came home with last time.

Ooh that's harsh!
